Welcome to UNAIDS Science now and to the fifth issue of HIV this month in 2015!

UNAIDS called for sustained commitment to develop an effective HIV vaccine on 18 May, HIV Vaccine Awareness Day. On 27 May, UNAIDS welcomed additional evidence that starting antiretroviral therapy at a higher CD4 (a measure of immune system health) level has a positive effect on the health and well-being of people living with HIV in response to the Strategic Timing of Antiretroviral Treatment (START) trial announcement which found compelling evidence that the benefits of immediately starting antiretroviral therapy outweigh the risks.  

And if you haven't noticed the French version of HTM Issue no. 4 (2015) is available for download on our website. We'd also like to remind you that the symposium on HIV 2015: Using Phylogenetics to Enhance the HIV Response, which is being co-presented by UNAIDS and the Global Fund with the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS) is happening on 4 June, Thursday.
