Welcome to UNAIDS Science now and to the ninth issue of HIV this month in 2015!

On 23-27 September, PrEParing Asia: A new direction for HIV prevention among MSM in Asia, a regional dialogue preparing the future roll-out of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for self-identified gay men and other men who have sex with men in Asia happened in Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the Asia Pacific Coalition on Male Sexual Health (APCOM) with the Thai Red Cross and support from UNAIDS and WHO, the dialogue brought together representatives of gay men and other men who have sex with men, sexual health policy makers, programme planners and service providers who explored the potential of scaling up PrEP in the region. The Dialogue is part of the regional rollout of the WHO ART Guidelines that recommend PrEP as an important addition to the existing HIV prevention options. The agenda and related presentations and resources from the meeting are available for download here.

A related article Can new drug stop HIV among gay men? by Midnight Poonkasetwattana, Steve Kraus and Chris Beyrer in the Bangkok Post provides a good background for the dialogue.
